Wiadomo, że pierwszym legendarnym wydawnictwem było A Factory Sample (FAC 2) wydane w 1979 roku, zawierający nagrania kilku zespołów, w tym Joy Division i Durutti Column (TUTAJ). Do tego wydawnictwa powrócimy. Dzisiaj natomiast chcemy napisać o pierwszym singlu z nagraniami tylko jednego wykonawcy. Był to wydany również w 1979 roku (dokładnie w maju) singiel zespołu A Certain Ratio pod tytułem All Night Party (FAC 5 - TUTAJ), zawierający dwa utwory: All Night Party, oraz the Thin Boys. Realizatorem nagrań był Martin Hannett (TUTAJ), legendarny realizator albumów studyjnych Joy Division. Okładkę projektowała również legendarna dla Joy Division osoba, Peter Saville (TUTAJ). Zespól A Certain Ratio jest uważany za jeden a kluczowych zespołów post - punk. Pochodzi z Manchesteru, debiutowali pod koniec lat 70-tych ubiegłego wieku. Nazwa wywodzi się z tekstu utworu Briana Eno The True Wheel.

Zespół powstał w roku 1978, a założyli go basista Jeremy Kerr, gitarzysta i trębacz Martin Moscrop, gitarzysta Peter Terrell i wokalista oraz trębacz Simon Topping. Ważne jest, że zespół odkrył menadżer Joy Division Rob Gretton (TUTAJ), który po obejrzeniu ich występu polecił zespół szefowi i twórcy Factory Records, Tony Wilsonowi (TUTAJ) i sam stał się ich menadżerem.
