Our interview with Detriti Records / Nasz wywiad z Detriti Records: w poszukiwaniu ciekawych brzmień, czyli jak działa mała niezależna wytwórnia z Berlina proponująca chłodne, nostalgiczne brzmienia

Searching the web we have found interesting record label named Detriti. Today we publish a short interview with Davide, who works there and who will present some interesting new sounds and bands. 

Poszukując nowych inspirujących brzmień natknęliśmy się na ciekawą niezależną wytwórnię Detriti Records. Dziś prezentujemy wywiad z Davide, który jest założycielem wytwórni i który przedstawi nam nowe ciekawe brzmienia. 

Where are you from?
 

Skąd jesteś?

Originally from Italy, but now I live in Berlin.

Wywodzę się z Włoch ale obecnie mieszkam w Berlinie.

When did you start to sell music?
 

Od kiedy zacząłeś zajmować się sprzedawaniem muzyki?

2-3 years ago

Jakieś 2-3 lata temu. 

Is your company a solo project?

 Czy to projekt solowy?

Yes, it's just me.

Is the running of recording level your only one job, or you have another job and music is only the hobby?

Czy to Twoja jedyna praca czy masz a inną, a to jest Twoje hobby?

Since one year it's my only job.

Od roku to moja jedyna praca.

I am listening to the first band - Molchat Doma - the music is interesting, however did you consider to publish English version of this album?

Słucham pierwszego z zespołów - Molchat Doma, muzyka jest interesująca, ale czy nie rozważałeś opublikowania tej płyty w wersji anglojęzycznej? 

A different language would ruin everything i guess.

Myślę, że inna wersja językowa mogłaby wszystko zniszczyć. 

May you say please few words about this band? Where are they from?
 

Możesz o nich powiedzieć kilka słow, skąd są?

They are from Minsk, in Belarus. They are quite young and naturally very talented in my opinion.

Są z Mińska na Białorusi. Są bardzo młodzi i moim zdaniem niezwykle utalentowani.  

What are they singing about?

O czym śpiewają?

I don't speak Russian, but when I put their lyrics in Google Translate I'm always amazed by the beauty of the images and words they use.

Nie znam języka rosyjskiego, ale po wrzuceniu ich tekstów do translatora jestem zawsze oczarowany pięknem obrazów i słów jakich używają. 

Next band from your company - Villes Nouvelles. I see the clip named Leaders - it sounds like the Leaders of Men by Joy Division. However, the music is different, may I ask you to introduce this band to our readers?

Kolejny band z Twojej stajni to Villes Nouvelles. Obejrzałem klip zatytułowany Leaders - i od razu skojarzyło mi się to z the Leaders of Men zespołu Joy Division. Jednak muzycznie to coś zupełnie innego. Możesz ich przedstawić naszym czytelnikom? 

Villes Nouvelles is a French band living now in Leipzig. In my opinion they perfectly mix German old school darkwave and contemporary minimal-synthwave.

Villes Nouvelles to francuski zespół obecnie mieszkający w Lipsku. W mojej opinii perfekcyjnie mieszają niemiecki oldschoolowy darkwave i współczesny  minimal - synthwave.

they sing in German. By the way, they sound like a new interesting version of X-mal Deutschland. Generally I see a lot of German associations. For example the band Parole e azioni has a German soldier on the cover

oni śpiewają po Niemiecku. Na marginesie brzmią jak nowa interesująca odsłona X-mal Deutschland. Ogólnie widzę wiele niemieckich skojarzeń, na przykład zespół Parole e azioni ma niemieckiego żołnierza na okładce płyty 

Is this intentionall? Maybe you want to refer to Joy Division, and their name, as well as their debut single cover An Ideal For Leaving (I mean the first version with the German soldier?) Where is Parole e azioni band from? 

Czy to celowe? Może chcecie nawiązywać do Joy Division, ich nazwy i okładki ich płyty An Ideal For Living (mam na myśli jej pierwszą wersję z niemieckim żołnierzem). Skąd jest Parole e azioni? 

Parole e azioni's main references are DAF and Liaisons Dangereuses. But you're right, there is also a visual connection with Joy Division debut single. In both cases there's a reference to Nazi Germany propaganda. In both cases this visual reference has to be meant as satirical and farcical. The danger of Totalitarianism is still very present in our society.

Parole e azioni's odnoszą się w swojej twórczości do takich grup jak DAF czy Liaisons Dangereuses. Ale masz rację, jest też wizualne nawiązanie do debiutanckiego singla Joy Division. W obu przypadkach jest odniesienie do propagandy Nazistowskich Niemiec. W obu przypadkach to ma znaczenie satyryczne i absurdalne. Niebezpieczeństwo Totalitaryzmu ciągle zagraża ludzkości.

The next band you promote is Visitor. Their album Expat sounds a little bit  like Cabaret Voltaire, but the sound is more fresh. Very interesting band. May I ask you to introduce them?

Kolejna grupa którą promujesz to Visitor. Ich album Expat brzmi nieco jak Cabaret Voltaire, ale brzmienie jest bardziej świeże. Mogę Cię prosić o przedstawienie tego zespołu?

 

Visitor are a duo from Canada. Their EBM is very experimental and personal. They are able to keep it minimal despite continuous interesting rhythmic and melodic variations.

Visitor to duet z Kanady. Ich muzyka jest bardzo eksperymentalna i spersonifikowana. Są w stanie utrzymać ją na poziomi minimalistycznym, pomimo ciągłych interesujących zmian melodii i rytmu.

Listening to the music of the next band Words and Actions, and their record  - Senza Veleno, as well as Klack I conclude that you mainly promote electronic dark wave music. What about more guitar playing bands? Do you have some?

 Kiedy tak słucham kolejnych kapel jak Words and Actions i ich płyty - Senza Veleno, czy grupy Klack dochodzę do wniosku, że głownie promujesz muzykę elektroniczną i dark wave. Czy macie u siebie jakieś kapele o bardziej gitarowym brzmieniu?

Sounds fine, I have noticed that Klack sounds very interesting. Could you please introduce them? They have a nice Do You Klack? record. Sounds really amaizing. Who they are? Give us some unpublished material about them. What is their music inspiration?

Brzmi świetnie, zauważyłem, że Klack ma bardzo ciekawe brzmienie. Możesz coś o nich powiedzieć? Mają bardzo ciekawą płytę Do You Klack? Może masz jakiś nieopublikowany materiał o nich? Skąd czerpią inspirację? 

Klack are a duo from USA. I like how they are able to mix EBM and New Beat vibes. Unfortunately i don't have unpublished material.

Klack to duet z USA. Lubię ich sposób mieszania EBM i New Beat vibes. Przykro mi ale nie mam ich żadnego nieopublikowanego materiału.

Ascending also sounds fine. Who is the author of the graphics on your albums? They are interesting...

Ascending też brzmi nieźle. Kto jest autorem okładek ich płyt? Są bardzo ciekawe...

The next very good band from your label is Sottosuolo. Who they are? Sottosuolo looks more like an avantgarde project, am I right?

Kolejnym ciekawym zespołem z Twojej wytwórni jest Sottosuolo. Kim są? Wygląda to na projekt awangardawowy, czyż nie? 

Sottosuolo is one of my personal projects, and yes I agree with your definition, it's avantgarde industrial music.

Sottosuolo to jeden z moich prywatnych projektów. Zdgadzam się z Twoją definicją - to industrialna awangarda.

On your web page HERE,  I can see that you also produce cassettes. Can you describe how and where are they produced? May I ask you for some pictures from the production process? Is this financially rewarding? 

Na stronie wydawnictwa TUTAJ, można zauważyć, że wydajecie też kasety magnetofonowe. Jak one są produkowane - masz może jakieś zdjęcia pokazujące proces produkcji? Czy to jest opłacalne?
 

It's not financially rewarding but it helps to create a strong label identity. They are produced in UK, but I don't have any pics of the process production.

To nie jest opłacalne, ale pozwala na utrzymanie tożsamości wytwórni. Produkowane są w UK, ale nie mam żadnych zdjęć pokazujących proces ich wytwarzania.
 

What are your future plans? Do you plan still produce mainly electronic-related post punk music, or you are looking for some new sounds?

Jakie są Twoje plany? Planujesz dalej wydawać głównie elektroniczną muzykę post punk, czy też myślisz o jakiś nowych brzmieniach?
 

I would like to add some more dancefloor oriented music, especially New Beat, Acid House and old school electro.

Chciałbym w przyszłości wydawać muzykę bardziej ukierunkowaną na taniec, zwłaszcza New Beat, Acid House i oldschoolowe electro.
